Every contact in your organization is one row, uniquely identified by email address. This page explains the fields on a contact, how program interests work, and what the email statuses mean.

Fields

FieldNotes
EmailThe deduplication key — one email, one contact per organization. Required.
First name / Last nameOptional. Editable from the contact detail panel.
PhoneOptional. Editable from the contact detail panel.
Original sourceHow the contact first entered your organization (see below). This field never changes.
Program interestsThe list of program offerings this contact is interested in. Acquired automatically; also adjustable by promoting to lead.
TagsOrganization-wide labels you apply. A contact can have any number of tags.
Email statusActive, Unsubscribed, or Bounced. Controls whether they can receive emails from your org.
Created dateWhen the contact was first created. Used by Date added filters.

Original source

Every contact has exactly one original source, set the first time their email appears in your organization:
SourceHow it’s set
LeadThey submitted the Request Program Information form on your public page.
Cart AbandonedThey started checkout for a cohort or course but did not complete payment.
WaitlistThey joined a cohort waitlist without being a prior contact.
EnrolledThey completed enrollment in a cohort.
ImportedYou bulk-imported them from a CSV.
ManualYou added them from Add Contact on the Contacts page.
If a contact returns through a different channel (for example, an imported contact later submits the info request form), their source stays the same — but they pick up the new program interest and any associated lead record.

Program interest

A contact gains program interest for a specific program offering when they:
  • Join a waitlist for any cohort within that program
  • Submit Request Program Information for that program
  • Start checkout for a cohort in that program without completing
  • Are manually tagged with program interest (e.g. via CSV import with a selected program)
Program interest is cleared when the contact enrolls in an active cohort of that program, or when you manually remove it. This is why you can email “everyone interested in EMT” when a new EMT cohort opens — program interest survives between cohorts.

Email statuses

StatusMeaning
ActiveEligible to receive emails.
UnsubscribedClicked the unsubscribe link in a previous email. Automatically excluded from all future sends.
BouncedA previous delivery hard-bounced. Automatically excluded from all future sends to protect your sender reputation.
You can filter the All Contacts table by status and see per-status counts at the top. Unsubscribe and bounce decisions are permanent from the sender side — a contact who wants back in must re-opt via your public form.

The detail panel

Click any row in the table to open the contact detail panel. From there you can:
  • Edit first name, last name, and phone
  • Add and remove tags (including creating new tags inline)
  • View program interests and which cohorts they’re tied to
  • See activity history (lead submissions, waitlist joins, enrollments, cart abandonment)
  • Open the Promote to lead dialog to create a tracked lead for a specific offering
